After some consideration, I think that it's about time to retire the current Sparkle wordmark (v0.2-present). It's unprofessional and I don't like how it's poorly-written and uses all-uppercase letters.
I will be looking into finding us a better logo for v0.12. Most likely, the new logo will look something like the one for Bonobo:
I have contacted @unconstructable13 to see if they're interested in working on a logo (link to comment).
Update: The new Sparkle logo is here!
It was designed by @unconstructable13 with instructions from me.
@sparkle-devs/developers Does anyone have any concerns with the new logo before I swap out the old one?
I feel like having sparkle and bonobo have almost the same logo makes both platforms a bit too connected; when sparkle is just for snap
Looks pretty good! I like the slight 3D effect on the wand but having the hand-drawnish lines coming off of it. And the font, still feels a bit happy. Buttt please make it transparent. :)
It is transparent, isn't it?
This is intentional. Sparkle and Bonobo are half-sister projects (that is, they share many of the same developers and were founded by the same person); furthermore, what is Sparkle but an application-specific version of Bonobo?
Ah, it is. Sorry! GitHub uses a different background for images so it didn't look like it
But also, can we please try to prefer the .svg version for docs? And of course store then somewhere
The logo was designed in
OmniBlocksTurboWarp (a Scratch descendant) from my understanding, so the font would look messed-up if we did that. It's alright, don't worry about it.
Ah, I see. I may be able to redesign it in Inkscape when I get home, maybe (question mark)? I think we should dump the logo versions (svgs, and png versions) into .GitHub, for future info.
Why not put it in
doc/like the screenshot from the README?Eh, true. That would be better!
